Elman was awarded with the tender floated by the “Sistemi Territoriali” and AIPo for the management of the service and the development, design and realization of the project “R.I.S. – TEN-T EA Number 2010-IT-70203-S”.
The scope of the project is to support and enhance the management capabilities of the waterway system of Northern Italy through the establishment of a RIS (River Information Services).
The tender has as objective:
- Phase 1: realization of the project documentation of the River Information Services (RIS) for the waterway system of Northern Italy(SIIN);
- Phase 2: realization of the project documentation of the prototype of the River Information Services (RIS) for the waterway system of Northern Italy(SIIN);
- Phase 3: realization of the technology system for the prototype of the River Information Services (RIS) for the waterway system of Northern Italy(SIIN).
The area of interest of the Italian RIS is essentially the plain of Padania, and in particular the Po river, its tributaries, the Ferrarese waterways and the Idrographic district of the Oriental Alps, which include the artificial waterway of the Fissero-Tartaro-Canalbianco and the Venetian Lagoon. In addition to this area there is also the coastline between the city of Ravenna and Trieste.
Among the objectives of the RIS there are: ensure the safety of navigation, improve the efficiency, make available information useful to assure that proper actions are taken in case of emergency, have a monitoring instrument on possible non authorized excavation activities, and to assure that all the parties authorized and interested access the information gathered. This simplifies the current management, distribution, and control of the information throughout the waterway system making also easier and swifter all the logistic processes.
