AMW-1103

In addition to compatibility with the AIS standard, the AMW-1103 station implements other capabilities to enforce protected communications occasionally or whenever it’s required.
These Secure Mode functions can be used to interrupt standard broadcast communications of AIS messages and/or to enable encrypted communications so that only friendly AIS stations (i.e. other AMW-1103 equipped vessels and base stations sharing the same encryption and password) can decode the information transmitted by the ship. The DSC receiver can be reserved for encrypted communications on a user-specified frequency, if desired.

Users that can benefit from secure AIS communications include coastal administrations, military and police forces and private companies managing fleets of vessels.
